Q about Little Turtle Knits Picky Pants pattern.

Postby Cyrillia » Mon May 28, 2012 6:42 am

Hey all,

I decided to go with the Little Turtle Knits Picky Pants pattern for my first attempt at longies and have already done the body and waistband. I couldn't decide whether to do the short rows option, or the increases option, and in the end went with the increases option as last time I did short rows with wrapped stitches I ended up with holes in the garment where I'd picked up wraps and knitted them together with the stitch. I'm just wondering - is this going to have a negativ impact on the longies?

Thanks,
Sarah

I shouldn't think it will be too much of a problem. I personally think a combo of increases and short rows are the best for a good fit but plenty of free patterns only offer one or the other.

Fwiw I always got holes in my wrap and turns but have found following the wrapping instructions from here http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/secure-ht ... sp?iaid=33

and the picking up and knitting instructions from here http://spinspinspin.wordpress.com/2011/ ... -tutorial/ have helped no end (although I was knitting flat when I discovered this. For ITR I use this method: http://www.woolywonder.com/forums/showp ... stcount=34 (although the pictures aren't working for me ATM.

Thanks for those comments, and sorry it's taken me so long to reply! :D I got carried away knitting these longies, and have finished them already - I started at Sunday tea time and finished yesterday (but had a day off on Tuesday!). Will post pics later, but think I'll attempt the short rows next time. I've made this pair for overnight, and will make another pair for overnight use too. They're so cute I think I'll make a pair for daytime use now. Just hope it's as good as everyone says, as they're cuteness has converted me to a woolly loving mama! :giggle:

Wow that was quick knitting, :) Definitely give the short rows a try. Even if they have holes I don't think it makes it that noticeable on the bum.

And we need pics :D
