Where to buy natural wool for soaker

Postby Rox » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:21 pm

None of the wool shops near me sell 100% wool - the ones that do, its superwash.

I dont want to spend a lot as its going to be used for my first attempt at knitting a soaker & longies so am reluctant to use the small stash of lovely PK, BLL i've got - just want some undyed natural wool (am thinking this may get dyed after i've knited it up if its any good)

Suggestions please... and as cheap as poss as its a tester project really so dont want to spend a fortune on the best, hand spun, the sheep was purple but then it turns white when sheered stuff etc :hohoho:

Maybe ask Ali for an undyed skein. My local shop doesn't sell any nice yarn either :( They are cr&p, I ordered a 60cm cable 4 weeks ago and they said it should be up to 5 days, I'm still waiting :waiting: I was trying to save on postage, meh!

If it was me I would just knit the nice stuff, if it goes wrong just frog it and start again. Joeli's pattern was my first and it's great

Goodluck x

I have some scraps of girly yarn hun, mainly pixie knits if you want it I can pop it in the post for you, dont want anything for it, as it won't get used by me as not enough to make anything for Darcy, but may just be enough in there for a small soaker, will just need to sort it out? Just let me know x

Yarn undyed but I think they only do packs of 5 skeins. Worth a look though.

:giggle: I've done that in the past but i havent done knitting in the round before or these patterns and i dont wanna have to frog lovely wool, it never knits up as nicely once you've played with it a few times.

I think also tho, i dont want to use the lovely stuff on wool she will only wear for a couple of weeks. Seems a bit of a waste.

Dull colours but they had some cream and green when I was there so might be wort a call to see whta they have in? That's £9 for 450g which is £2 for 100g ie cheap as chips.

Alternatively try a stash search on Ravelry to see if you can pick up a skein of unloved yarn from a knitter on there?
