I love my Knit-pro interchangables too, they're not the cheapest to buy but they get used for all knitting because of the different cable lengths, I've rarely needed straight needles or dpns if I've had the right size tips for the knit-pros. The only problem I've found is that the smallest cable size (60cm, maybe it was) is too long for small circumferance knitting (small soakers, legs etc), and I bought smaller knit-pro circs for those. You can also get shorter tips for interchangable needles but I think it worked out cheaper just to buy 40cm circs. Of course you can always use magic loop with the longer cables.
I have one cable that is now starting to look a bit loose at the join, but it's lasted two years so i don't mind replacing it, the rest are all fine and I've yet to break one! Cheap circs just don't last at all!
