Postby labbiefan » Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:19 pm

Hi Ladies- I do knit and can crochet, however my crocheting ability only goes as far as blankets  - I would really like to be able to crochet other things- Is it easy to learn?- Any recommends of books etc.

Thanks

@labbiefan When I started the thought of something as big as a blanket filled me with terror :giggle: my first project was a hat, I then did some slippers. I used free ravelry patterns, you tube and here for help with the hard bits. I also borrowed a few books from the library. hths

I found the best book was a really old I found in a charity shop called the art of crochet, I think, (part 1) the lady does have very scary nails and all the patterns are v seventies but it was the simplest. I'll lend it to you if you like-or can photocopy some pages if you tell me what you're looking for. Bah to copyright.

 crochet and if you can do a blanket, then you can do anything :) I used the Happy Hooker book and crocheted square after square using different stitches and cotton so I could use them as dishcloths - I had a fair few wonky dishcloths to start with
