How do you all know your yardage so exactly?

I weigh what's left of the yarn at the end of the project and use the yardage per ball/skein to work out what was used

God that's a bit precise! why? does it help you work out how you knit compared with the pattern yardage?

Yep and I then know if the scraps I have left are going to be enough to make anything else. Appeals to the accountant in me too

I do exactly the same, even though i have enough yarn to go around the world twice (a bit of an exageration ) i still like have everything recorded properly and love to find that ideal small project that will use up the leftovers.

I don't ever take note of yardage. I guesstimate how much of a ball is left for my Rav. files, otherwise I don't bother. I have a big box of scraps and just make scrappies

I sell my scraps quite often, so need to know how much is left I show the entire skein/s used in Rav though.

At the end of the project I weigh the yarn that is left over and update the skeins used in my Rav projects, I've just taken my yardage from the finished project in Rav

God I got so confused then, I'd quoted myself rather than edit my original post and then the thread seemed to disappear lol!
