Shorties/longies pattern with gusset?

Postby Hippychick » Wed Aug 01, 2012 12:10 pm

Hiya, just finished my first pair of shorties using Joeli's pattern: the result is good but I want to know how to make shorties that are more triangular in shape (ie flare out at the hips and continue in line) and have a diamond shaped gusset in the crotch: I have looked on ravelry but the only knes I can find have a single line of kitchener at the crotch rather than a diamond (which I think will hang more nicely when baby is mobile). Can anyone point me towards a pattern (free or paid) where there is a diamond crotch gussett and a flare?

(the wool I want to try with next claims to be DK but is the same thickness as 4ply so I know I may have to mess with stitch numbers...)

Thank you in advance!!!

Oh dear, does no-one use a pattern with a diamond gusset in the crotch? I'd much rather find one someone's done than throw money at patterns randomly (especially as I'm a relative novice.) anyone?

Hi  I use my own pattern that has the diamond shaped crotch, but while I have seen quite a few about I don't know off hand what they are called - are you on Ravelry to see what comes up there?

Thanks! I've looked on there and there's a free pattern called itchy fingers, though it looks long and complex! Was really looking for a recommendation just because it's nicer to hear "I used xxx and it was straightforward" or "I used the xxx" pattern. A quick google reveals something called Wonderpanfs and one called something to do with Sheep, I'd just rather not buy a $12 pattern and then find it's impossible to follow (tightwad alert!)
Also i'm quite slow so want to avoid a pattern where I get 3/4 of the way through and get stuck!
