Where to get nice (but cheap) solid colour yarn for longies?

Postby Mareth » Tue Aug 21, 2012 3:45 pm

OK, it's a LONG time since I've done anything with yarn  . Now my mam wants to make some longies (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... er-longies) for bubs, but I've no idea where to get yarn for her.

Any suggestions? Can't be TOO expensive, and I want solid colours rather than fancy. Not necessarily WAHM.

Would prefer somewhere in the UK that I can order online so that I can get it sent straight to her.

If you want 100% wool at a reasonable price, I'd go for Cascade 220. I get mine from Pavi Yarns. Bear in mind that you get 220m for the price rather than 166m for most WAHM Arans, so it works out at a great price IMO.

Yep agree with tanya! You can't really go wrong with that yarn for the price :D

Worsted, which is somewhere between. I've used it to both gauges and it works fine. Not much help there!

It's worsted so somewhere between dk and aran, very good value and nice and soft

Thanks Tanya and Tara

That will be perfect for me then too I think :yahoo: Want to get some more stuff knitted for Darcy and bump but just dont have the funds for WAHM at the moment  so will give this a try instead! I think most of the patterns I usually use ask for worsted anyway but I buy aran so it would be perfect
