I've abducted my OH's jumper. help?

Postby katherineeah1 » Sun Sep 16, 2012 8:44 pm

There probably is a thread on this already but I'm knackered and feeling lazy :/

OH's new (well... ebay new) merino jumper is too small so I thought I'd make it into a woolly sleepsuit and a soaker (if I have enough) for winter. Do I need to felt it or can I just cut it up? I've got a pattern in mind but I've not done it before. And is there anything else I need to do? I've already got lanolin and wool wash.

Any tips welcome :)

I made some upcycled trousers a couple of years back but they weren't pure wool so we used them as cosy leggings. I think that you would need to felt the soaker but the sleepsuot might be a bit thick iyswim? Not much help really sorry.

Thick as in too hot you mean? Well I was thinking of winter really because our house gets quite cold and I thought it might be snuggly :)

We had a disana felted wool snow suit with dd and it was brilliant! She used to nap outdoors in all weathers (in pram!) and it kept her toasty.

If your house is cold and the other layers are appropriate, I think it'd be lovely! I'd probably not lanolise it, cos lanolised arms and legs might be a bit weird, but with a wool soaker underneath it'd still work beautifully well.
