Problems with wool in the day :-(

Postby Shaunie » Thu Oct 18, 2012 3:04 pm

I used pockets with the other 2 & wool with Emmet when he was small with no problems. I have been using wool but keep getting wet clothes. His vests aren't tight as I use vest extenders & his clothes are not tight but fit if that makes sense!

Is this normal? How can it be avoided? I have been using wraps for day use because of this but much prefer wool :( . I am awaiting a trim so that I can knit some longies too :D

I presume you mean wool soakers as opposed to wool longies.

Is there a specific place he is getting wet? Are his nappies really wet under the wool?

We used wool in the day with no problems, both soakers under clothes and skirties/longies etc but i always made sure her nappies were more absorbent than she needed so really they were only damp on the outisde, not wet - this helps to avoid compression wicking.

Not sure what to suggest really, if he wears just a soaker and no pants do you still get wet patches? If not then it must be compression from his clothes, but if he does then it would be that the nappy isnt absorbent enough/wool not lanolised enough x

Yes Rox soakers. He is wet between the legs and at the front, but the nappy isn't soaking so don't think that's the problem. I did re-lanolise as it they are new & only been done once - would they need doing more than that?

I only used wool at nights with the boys with no issues at all x

You possibly just need to lanolise them a bit more. As you know M has been in fitteds and wool pretty much full time from birth and we have never had any issues at all.

I would say lanolise a bit more too, also as they get a bit more felted that will help.

Is it between the legs as in the creases? That could be compression possibly from his trousers/vest as it 'pulls up' in that area on babas that age. Baggier bottoms or a vest without poppers might help x

No idea but even at night We can only use soakers under fleece or everything is wet! I lanolise every 2 wears and his nappies are well boosted but still soaking
