I'm tempted but I'm not really a shawl-wearer...how much yarn does a medium one take?

You could just about do it with 100g of colourway and 50g of trim if you use DK. Probably a bit more for aran.

I think last night I was thinking I needed to come back up the far side not along the CO as it says see Sim's point 1 I think it is right now, it certainly looks like the bottom of a shawl!

I do love the idea of knitting, but seriously lack the patience. I can't wait to see the pics as this progresses.

A useful tip... I now put a lifeline in once I get to stockinette sections or garter stitch sections (not everytime, but every few inches or so) just in case I mess up - means I only have to rip back to the lifeline
