Should I be upset?

Postby labbiefan » Wed Mar 20, 2013 12:52 pm

I recently made a dear friend a lovely blanket for her new baby using beautiful hand dyed yarn, which she loved.

She has been to see me today and has machine washed it! And said it had gone abit funny! I felt like crying..Of course I didn't I simply said it was hand wash only.

I feel a bit gutted. Its ruined :( I'm sure she has no idea how much it cost.

Sorry to moan x

I remember I made a friend a jumper for her boy in pixieknits wool, and she never used it. I was gutted and felt like asking for it back. And the worst thing was she asked me to make it for him!

oh thats such a shame :(

I use machine washable wool when making gifts, unless I know the person already uses/wears hand dyed, hand wash wool and is happy to look after it.

even though its felted - could it be softened up and still used?

I make most of my baby gifts in WAHM wool and would cry if someone machine washed one. It could have been baby brain on her part but such a shame , I don't think my friends realise how much the wool actually costs!

I would be gutted.

If I make a baby gift for non-woolly friend using WAHM / 'posh' yarn I always include a tag with washing instructions and try to use Superwash yarn where possible just in case!
