I did bowls and loved doing them and hte result - however they didn't need to fit :lookround: :giggle:

babyroo wrote:They look lovely! Good luck with the felting :giggle: they will shrink down a lot, but if you start with a gentler wash you can control the finished size more

I hope they do they look huge atm!!! So what do you suggest a 40 degree wash to start and if that doesn't work enough a 60 - is that what you mean? Can I keep rewashing until I get it right? @babyroo

Will take WIP pics in the morning!

Yep exactly that. Some wools will felt really well at 40, but others will need a higher temp. If it's too big you can do again, but if it's already too small theres not much you can do

Ahh that is really worth knowing as I was thinking of just jumping in at 60 and praying they worked :giggle: they are a bit of a practice as I'm not sure how the variegated will work out and not sure if I have enough to do the flaps or not either  (have now weight complete foot and have enough (just!) to do 2 thanks goodness as I went on a wool; buying mission today with little success ). I do hope these work out anyway as would be nice to at least have them fit as my feet are freezing!!!

I was determined to get the 2nd foot finished yesterday but unfortunately I rushed and ended up with an extra row  somehow and had to frog much of it! I eventually finished at 11.30 last night. I definitely didn't have enough wool left for the cute flaps - I managed to make about 3/4 of one before running out!

They are really huge I so hope they will felt up enough!

First wash on - I chose a quick wash at 40 degrees - will update shortly when it has finished!

:panic: oh no nothing has happened at all :panic: I really hope that it is actually wool  I'm presuming it is I got it in a swap from @gayleygoo ages ago and it looks and feels like 100% wool (thank you lovely Gayle if you are still around I'm so pleased to be finally putting this cute wool to use :) )! I've put them back on at 60 degrees. I'm not sure my fancy 'gentle' washing machine is the best for felting really!

OK so I calmed down and the machine started to heat up - phew! Luckily I stopped it in time as they were just right :yahoo: :yahoo:

They have turned out pretty well with little spots of colours they look happy and fun!

They now have plastic bags in them and are outside drying :D :D I'm so excited I'll have warm comfy feet! Can't wait to make more of them they were such an easy nice little project. I want to get some earthy colours and lovely buttons and do some with the straps but at least I have warm ones to keep me going while I sort out the yarn - very happy

I'm not sure how to get a denser felt so that you can't see the rows as much, I wonder if a longer wash at 40 would have helped? I'm also thinking that in a single colour it would be less obvious. I'm not unhappy with it as they are not really obvious but just having a ponder as I looked at the pics!
