Would it make much difference if I missed out the short rows? My first turn is always nice, but the second one always leaves a hole :-?

Same here! :-?

It won't make too much difference if you want to leave out the short rows--I often do. But you have to make the rise longer to compensate, probably an inch or so.

She's about 24waist, 27 hip?

You want to cast on 140 sts.

Then if you want to do short rows, it's knit 70, turn, purl 70, turn.

Then for the ribbed crotched it's:
k34, p2, k68, p2, knit to end
k30, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k60, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, knit to end
k26, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k52, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, knit to end

Then for the increases it's:
K26...blah blah...k52...blah blah.

Think those should be the only numbers you need, but let me know if you get stuck.

Hi Joeli - next problem for you :giggle: Ive been :knit: :knit: :knit: tonight, and finally got to the end of section 3, the final round actually. I dont understand it :-? ive knit to 2nd marker, next 26 stitches (11 st per 2"), and now im stuck :-? it says to place spare stitches from this point up to the first marker onto spare yarn. so what does that mean exactly? what are the 'spare stitches' - the ones up to the first marker which ive already knitted, or the ones im about to knit? and what is the spare yarn? :-? im confused! really wanna get on with this now - im nearly there! :knit: :knit: :knit:

ETA im knitting on circulars too x

this is what i have so far btw

A spare piece of yarn is just that. Just get a spare ball of yarn and cut a piece of yarn off. The stitches you need to place on the yarn are the ones you haven't knit yet. The easiest way to get them onto the spare piece of yarn is to use a tapestry needle (whatever needle you use for sewing up your knitting) and thread them onto the yarn.

Nope! Don't knit them, just transfer them.
