I've just been to get wool and needles and will make a start now, I haven't :knit: since I was about 10 and then could only knit and purl(used to get my gran to cast on and off for me  )
Thanks for taking the time to do the pattern joeli, I wouldn't know where to start.

I agree, Thanks Joeli if you had not done this I would not have a chance of even starting to :knit: longies.

Oh and big thanks to everyone else who has been answering all my dumb questions

Well I've done my gauge swatch, cast on and done one round and it's not as difficult as I thought it was going to be-no tantrums or swearing yet :giggle:

I'm confused, not sure if I'm doing something wrong or misreading the pattern.

I'm up to section 3 (I actually had it all done except the kitchener, and thought I'd made a mistake so undid it all and am just about to start again).

i got to the kitchener stitch part and when I placed the stitches onto a stitch holder I ended up with only about 20 odd stitches being held (can't remember exactly how many, but it was about half as many as I had at the other side once I counted the 36 stitches that were going to be kitchenered (does that make sense?) ) What have I don't wrong to end up with odd sized legs?

The only part I can see that I might have made a mistake with (and the reason I've just undone all of section 3) is where it says
Knit to 1 st before first marker, m1, k1 (or k1, m1 depending on which marker I'm at)
I was literally knitting up to the marker but leaving one stitch on the left needle before the marker, making my stitch, then knitting that one remaining stitch as the k1, then moving the marker. Is that wrong? Should I be knitting up to the marker, moving it over, then m1, k1/k1, m1?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

That's correct. Not sure where you are going wrong. Can you check that you have 24 more stitches then when you cast on?

Thanks Joeli, I'll knit it up again and then count up. Can't figure out where I'm making the mistake :-?

Basically you are doing 4 increases every other round, and they are on either side of the front/back crotch stitches.
