Heya I am currently working through your pattern as my first project in the round and I am getting confused in section 2  I have knitted in the first and second short rows but I seem to be an inch shorter than the pattern says, when you said knit one round before the first short row did you mean knit until the work measured an inch below the waist band before doing the first short row? although looking at it I have got work that measures 3" on the front including waist band before the second SR

If your work measures 3" before the second SR it sounds like you are fine. You don't measure again until you before you knit the third short row:

You have now completed one short row and are back at the beginning of the round.
Work stockinette stitch (knit every round) for one inch. Work now measures 2" from ribbing, 3" in total.

Work one short row as before. So you're okay to this point?

Work stockinette stitch for one inch. Work now measures 3" from ribbing, 4" in total. So then knit for another inch before you do the next short row.

Work one short row as before.

Thank you  it's just the numbers didn't make much sense because the ribbing is 2" and then it says another 2" after the ribbing then do the 2nd short row after only knitting 1" :giggle: I get confused really easily :hohoho:

Oh, I see what you mean! I'm sure that was pointed out before and I fixed it. :-? Will go fix it now. The total bits are right, just not the "from ribbing" bit.

WSS. Do I start off with some plain wool or do I go for some extra yummy WAHM wool - just worried I'll wreck it or waste it as I have never knitted before :(

You can't really waste it, unless you were to let a cat play with it or something :giggle: . You can frog your knitting as many times as you need to (within reason) and just knit it back up again.

Is one type of wool easier to knit with than another?
