Learn to knit longies -- Important Update (06/08/10)!

But I don't get how, if I'm only working one inch on top of my short rows (which don't count if I'm measuring the front anyway) and before that I only worked one round immediately after the ribbing, knitting one inch ends up measuring 2 inches from the ribbing. Shouldn't it measure 1 inch (and 1 row) after rib and 3 inches total?

Am I missing something (very possible ) or is there a mistake?

Um that would me being not able to add. Yes it should measure 3".

Phew, I thought I was being really dim and missing some obvious extra inch that was in there somewhere

Joeli, if I asked very nicely would you possibly help me work the pattern out to get it right please as I can just about follow a pattern let alo e try and adapt one!!

My gauge was 9 stitches per 2 inches so I cast on 92 stitches. I then put markers in for my short rows after 23 stitches and 69 stitches.

Basically if you were looking at it as a circle , my crotch is wrong by 180 degrees at the mo if that makes sense, so I need to graft another quarter of a turn on I *think*

Just want to let you know I've seen this and will figure it out now.

There was an error in section 2 with the placement of the short rows. I've fixed this now so please make sure you are following the updated version. My sincerest apologies.

I've only done the first short row so far so it's not a huge deal for me to just frog that section and start after the ribbing with an amended pattern.

Becky: Here are your revised instructions (I hope ). Once again, so sorry for the error and the trouble it has caused you.

Next rnd: K9, place marker, m1, k28, m1, place marker, k18, place marker, m1, k28, m1, place marker, k9.
Next rnd: Knit.
Next rnd: Knit to first marker, k1, m1, knit to 1 st before next marker, m1, k1, knit to next marker, k1, m1, knit to 1 sts befoer next marker, m1, k1.
Next rnd: Knit.
Repeat these 2 rnds 5 more times.
Next round: Knit to fthird marker, place sts from this point to next maker on spare yarn. Cut yarn leaving a long tail (12-18" maybe?) and graft the previous 18 sts with the next available 18 sts.
