Just started this last night, had to put the linen stitch shorties to one side for a bit cos the gusset is doing my head in :giggle: I checked Ravelry and Diaperswappers for help but it seems a linen stitch gusset is one of the best kept secrets in knitting :-?
So i am doing these in 100purewool merino with a waistband in Babylonglegs superwash merino, well i had a bit left over from DH manscarf and was the best colour match i had, but i havnt enough left for the leg cuffs so may have to sneak a couple of inches off his scarf when he`s asleep :giggle:

If any one reads this and can help with the linen stitch pair, please help!
Would you do a crotch flap and then pick up stitches around the leg, or would you do a gansey gusset and just have a few extra knit stitches along the increase edges?

Wow! There's some lovely stuff being knitted up on here. It's making me want to buy more wool :giggle:

I finally finished the longies I was knitting to Joeli's pattern last week! I started them before Christmas - put them down cos stitches kept falling off the needles and they were doing my head in - picked them up mid feb and finished them in a couple of weeks! I think once I'd got past the rib, everything seemed to click into place. Though I did kind of go off into my own thing on the short rows and the gusset - just not good at sticking to patterns, I always seem to wander off and end up knitting something out of my head - luckily it worked! :giggle:

So pleased with them :wine:

Unfortuately, when I lanolised them, the homedyed ginger yarn ran, so I had to re set it - now they have a blotchy finish. But am definately going to start some more as they fit beautifully.

Am now frantically knitting a baby blanket and a scarf for two friends - need to finish at least one of these before I start another pair of longies. But I'll stick pics of these up too later, cos the wool for both is gorgeous and provided I manage to stick with it, they should be yummy

That citron shawl looks lovely, but it would take me ages to knit rows that long!

After the trouble I was having picking up stitches for the skirt I started months ago I started a new skirtie and changed my method. This is a skirt with the rest of the soaker knitted on where the pleats begin.
Image
I have finished the first ball of wool so am deciding whether to carry on with the variegated wool or use the rest of the contrast colour as a hem.
Inspired by my new method I took the scissors to my other soaker, then knitted the 2 parts together again
ImageImage
I've just got to work out the number of rows between increases and what pattern to put round the hem.

Nearly finished these, but run out of trim, must take a few inches off DH scarf when he is not looking! :giggle:
I also promised myself that i am not going to start anything else for a few weeks, i have a pile of fabric to sew up and i have to do DH VAT returns by the end of the month  Image
