I like the Itchy Fingers pattern too. I prefer the Wonderpants pattern though, although I usually just muddle along without a pattern at all for longies now.

Is it worth paying for a pattern then? I've just used the free ones

Itchy Fingers is a free one. I have bought some excellent patterns on Ravelry (when I couldn't resist them ) but generally just use the free ones too. I am getting so much better at reading patterns (and fixing them when there are mistakes) by using Ravelry

You knit a gauge swatch and then base the entire pattern on that and the measurements of your baby, so it can be any size of needles, thickness of wool and flappiness of gauge (if you're me ), but it is a bit mathstastic. Lots of people seem to like it though, and once I'd sorted out my fail-maths, it was a cinch to knit.

Yay Almost finished my first ever proper project

Now i just need to work out how to round the edges and do the ties
