ok so who thinks i might be a little teensy bit mad?!lol

i've started oakley's jumper, without a pattern...... has a moss stitch hem thingie and i'm currently knitting the body, my theory goes that i can do straight arm holes, then pick up stitches around the arms then knit the arms. kinda in the same way i'd pick up stitches when i do a crotch on longies? would this work? i reckon it could work maybes, was gonna kitchener stitch the shoulders dunno on the hood yet. might need further instruction, but if i keep all the stitches round the neck on my needles so i knit from the neck up, i'd have to do some increases then when finished sew or kitchener stitch the hood. right? i'll do some pics in a bit of my no pattern jumper. it's not so bad so far.......

:giggle: :giggle: Annika. I think you might be ever so slightly mad :giggle: :giggle:

I suppose it should work though, you might have to change things as you go a little. I am starting a hoodie for Zach later - the Little Hoodlum pattern, wound the wool into balls last night (I hate doing that as I still seem unable to strangle myself or create a knot  ).

thanks jules!lol well i am very erm what's the word, impulsive by nature, so being hemmed into a pattern drives me insane.

my sister on the other hand, cannot do it without a pattern to follow else she gets lost.

it's all on circs atm anyway,i have restarted several times though, as the hem kept messing up, but moss stitch seems to be the best for not rolling up on me. rib is just a bit wierd to me

Yeah, is moss similar to seed? I like that around the edges, it looks neat and tidy.

Will be interesting to see how you get on with it. What you knitting in? I have some LLS super merino in Sea Deep for Zachs.

Moss is seed, moss is the English seed is the American..... I think :giggle:

Annika - I added a couple of short rows to the improvised long sleeves on the cardigan I am doing for Martha. I think it helps with the shape. I don't think you're mad at all. Well, not for doing the jumper without a pattern anyway..... :giggle:

ah that could be a good idea michelle! and jules yes michelle is right, seed and moss as far as i know are the same. i'm knitting in well, almost sea deep i think it's all greens teals and a bit of bluey colour, it's merino aran stuff i'm using, i'm not far off the split for arm pits now, about an inch to go maybe, not bad considering i started it last night.#

michelle i guess 2 or 3 short rows would be good near the shoulders? i had wondered about the shape there, fab suggestion
my dear!

I thought it was the other way round - Moss is US, seed UK. I've just knitted a US pattern with moss stitch. I could be wrong though ;)

I've just finished a pair of mittens and have cast on a Sleuthing Hoodie! Have a hat on the needles too.

This will be my second Sleuthing Hoodie, it's for the winner of a charity auction on HC, using JR superwash which is scrummy to knit with. Just doing the shoulders now.
