I have finally finished Martha's hat. It nearly killed me as I messed it up a few times and end up frogging it twice and knitting & unknitting the same rows about 6 times. How I managed to keep calm enough to NOT throw it on the fire.......

Wow, that hat is gorgeous

I just dyed some yarn and need to decide what to knit. Either arm warmers for myself or longies for my friends new baby.

It is! I have done two hats from that book now. They're fab! :D

Has anyone ever made anything like this before? http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hat---hoodie

I'm struggling with the size.
I'm making it for my 5 month old using DK yarn and a size 3.5 hook. My gauge is 4 stitches per 2cm.
I've just finsihed the collar part and tried it on her to see if it fits but it doesn't go around her neck - there's about 7cm missing!
Is this right or is it too small?

I've already had to frog it all once and am extremely frustrated!!! :x

what gauge does the pattern suggest? It sounds like you might need a bigger hook - that is a lot tighter than the gauge I would usually get for DK

The gauge on the pattern is:
sport weight + 3.5mm hook = 4st per 2cm (size 1-2 years) ?????
DK weight + 4mm hook = 4.5st per 2cm (size 2-3 years)
worsted weight + 5.5mm hook = 3st per 2cm (size 3-4 years)

I made some booties from the same pattern designer and had similar issues - the 1-2 year size would have only fitted a doll!
