Maybe for the next one someone should find something that I can knit in Aran Cotton with about 3 skiens :giggle:

If you did the Ridinghood in aran it would come out bigger ;)

Someone did ask about the bigger sized Sleuthing Hoodie in the Sugarbubbie ravelry group, but there's been no answer yet.

ETA: the Ridinghood goes up to a 4-6T, wouldn't that be big enough :?

Ooh I've just seen this as I've been offline for aaages (Archie ripped the dongle out of the front of the PC  )

I want to play! Off to choose some wool now, I've only ever knitted longies and soakers before so I'm sure I'm going to be full of questions, sorry in advance. :hohoho:

I don't think it would be. At least not with growth room in it

I just wanted to point out that the size of needles stated in the riding hood pattern (3.75mm size US 5) are far too small. I have cast on about 5 times and it always seems too tight to the point that the biggest size is still too tight for DD's head :giggle: so I was asking Cathie who made the one I got for Aimie and she said to use 5.5mm instead.

Hope that helps :)

How much dk yarn do you need for the 2-3T Riding hood? I'm trying to decide between Aran or DK, so between sleuthing and ridinghood and basically wondering what the total garment weight will be roughly in dk.

I just got a riding hood in DK knitted by Cathie (NKFN) in size 1-2 and she used 254 g so I would say 300-350g but that is just guessing really
she used your club yarn from March and that was 290g in total :)

ETA she also said:

The tension stated is actually for aran weight yarn, hense them coming out too small.

I tried using aran for them but found they used up lots of yarn and ended up quite heavy. I used 5.5mm needles with the Double knit I think they come out slightly bigger, but with 5mm its a little smaller.

I love those patterns. If I started one now, I'd never get it finished before winter is over. (I'm really, really slow. ) Do I start one thinking she'll be able to wear it in a year's time? :-? Hmmmm ...

I would start one in a bigger size so that she can wear it next year if you are a really slow knitter

And then just hope she doesn't have a massive growth spurt or something in the next 12 months. But that she grows enough to fit it. Guess I could always make it GN, so it can hang around for Bub. Decisions, decisions ... :giggle:
