I am doing a 1-2 size, I have 300g because Cathie used 254g in the 1-2 size I bought off her recently so I would probably say you would need 300-400g for a 2-3

I want to join in (well me or my Mum anyway!). I'd like to do a DK one, probably size 1-2. is 300g the amount for DK or aran?

The pattern says to use DK but I think it is written for yarn that is aran weight
there is no way you would be able to make anything big enough for a baby with the size of needles and DK weight yarn that are used in the pattern :giggle:

Looking at the info on ravelry it says 3.75mm needles and a gauge of 5.5sts per inch. That sounds reasonable to me for DK (although I personally would need to use 4mm possibly 4.5mm to get that gauge).

It doesn't matter if you use different needles than the pattern states, the important thing is that you get the gauge right, toherwise the finished size will be different than expected.

I am using 5.5mm needles and it is coming out the right size :wine: it really does just depend on your own tension.
sorry if it sounded like I meant you have to use the needles I am

:giggle: It didn't sound like that at all. Just wanted to make it clear that it's ok to use a different size if you need to to get the right gauge.

Wow that you've had to go up to a 5.5mm to get that gauge though

My yarn from Ali!

I think I might need to dye some solid trim colour to go with it. Not sure what colour. Purpley lilac maybe or a duocolour to contrast.

Mine might be knitted in time for winter. :giggle:
