Dim jelly question

But when you make a multi layer jelly, do you have to have a totally cool new (liquid) jelly to put on top of the previous set one?

Yes. When I made Ms rainbow jelly cups for her birthday it took me several days. You have to let each layer set before adding the next one.

You are also better waiting until the layer you are adding is coolish too. If it is still warm, then it will melt the lower layer slightly and the colours will mix

Yep. Mine is always cool anyway as I only use a small amount of boiling water to melt the cubes then add cold water to make it up.

Thank you Ant and Louise. We now have a two layer jelly setting in the fridge.

We have an ice machine at this holiday cottage, so I was able to cool the jelly liquid quickly.

Just need to do the third layer tomorrow and then we will have a traffic light jelly ready for everyone to have at tea :D
