Help! Henry has deceided he is veggie

Postby charliesam » Sun Feb 03, 2013 9:14 am

The title says it all really. Henry my 14 yr old has decided he is veggie. I have toyed with the idea for some time, but have always thought it would be v difficult with 3 picky kids who are not keen on veggies ! However i am determined to give it a go for all of us for a trial, and am going to have to feed Henry healthly long term.

Any good receipe's, ideas, books, best meat substitute thoughts will be gratefully received.

Its really easy when you are used to it. I generally keep it simple, replace chicken pieces with quorn, used pulses, quinoa is a good complete protein. Tofu is great in stir fry. Lots of reday made vegi stuff out there, id just be careful as their salt content tends to be high. If you want detailed recipe, tell us what you usually eat and we can suggest an alternative

Student veggie cook books are a good place to start for easy veggie meals :)

Not particularly constructive, but, Henry is 14?!

I decided I wanted to be veggie at 14 too, so I fended for myself, lol. I ate a lot of quorn pieces and mince, still do now even though I'm not veggie anymore. My monkeys aren't keen on veggies but I can normally get them to eat veggie curry and lasagne, and the veggies taste totally different in them.

Yeap, not sure how it happened but I am mum to a TEENAGER  not sure if this veggie idea is a fad or not, but knowing Henry ( who has aspergers) usually if he has deceided something that is it .
