To all slow cooker pros.HELP

Postby knees_on » Tue Dec 21, 2010 8:36 pm

as I have been feeling really rough lately I promptyly put myself to bed as he came in the door leaving himwith dinner to make and asking him to remind me later to put the stock on in the slow cooker to do overnight. Anyway while he did dinner very yummy dinner he managed the stock too. But...he used cold water rather than boiling water, which is what I would have done.

Will this work? It will be on all night (FC no electrical disasters overnight) so will it get to boiling point? Does it matter? After an hour its condensing on the lid...

I use cold water  Does it make a difference? When I turn it up to high a couple of hours before dinnertime it usually bubbles.

I reckon it will be fine. I always use hot water but that's because the instructions say to add the stock cube to boiling water. I would not worry at all.

oh great. Every recipe ive seen uses hot liquid so just thought because it was low heat used in slow cooker it wouldnt reach boiling point. Excellent :) im looking forward to extra yummy stock with it being on all night :)

Mine says to use warm but not boiling water as it helps it get up to temperature quicker...
But otherwise stuff is cold...
