Shoe wrecking kids

Postby JenKyleKaitlinRoo » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:03 pm

Is it just my kids that go through shoes like anything? My dd has had 4 pairs of school shoes this year (Aug til now) and she doesn't even wear them all day as their school has carpets so they have to wear indoor shoes.

I am keen to avoid the added expense next year but don't know if it will be worth it. She had 2 pairs of Norvic school shoes, a pair of clarks and a cheap pair from M&S. I am contemplating kickers for next year in the hope they may last longer.

Ds1 is just as bad atm. He bought himself new trainers 3.5weeks ago and they are fit for the bin already. They were only cheap from next but they are awful looking and are going to need replacing already.

Are there any makes of shoes that are generally harder wearing for my 2 pests? DS1 is 8 now so nothing to garish :giggle: I said to dd I was going to send her to school in steel toe capped boots next year!

Startrite or Reichter (sp) might be better for you then.
K and A got their shoes for going back in Aug last year and are still wearing them, admittedly K's have a worn patch but they only have 2 weeks left so we are not buying new ones :giggle: they are Clarks I do like Statrite though
It drives me insane when they go out without their playing out in showes on properly and stomp the back down trying to get them on

Oh yes Kyle does that then has the cheek to moan the backs are hurting after a while cos they are all bashed!

Kyle's clarks shoes lasted from Aug to January before the sole was so smooth that he'd have killed himself if it was icy outside.

Jack is really hard on shoes, he also picks all the stitching out on them(part of his suspected ADHD) He's had 6 pairs of school shoes since September

:giggle: I've threatened George with this too :giggle:

Ella and Sophie have had one pair each since sept, Ella's are worn through on the sole but she walks a long way to and from school. Sophie's are fine.

George has gone through 4 pairs now, and her feet have never grown they have all been the same size  She went through the first pair in less than 6 weeks and Clarks replaced them, the other 3 pairs have lasted a little longer but again get worn on the toes or on the outside edge from sitting cross legged on the yard surface at school

We have nowhere locally to get stratrite now as far as I know, will be watching this with interest to get ideas of longer lasting shoes!

Rhys wears medical grade Piedro boots a lot of the time, they're EXTREMELY hardwearing, and he still wrecks them within about a month. It's crazy.

I am looking to get Kickers for S when she starts school, i find they wear really well and have been my brand of choice for about 18months now. Her nursery shoes she has had pretty much all year now (Sep to leaving) and although the toes are scuffed the boots themselves are still in great condition and very wearable.

What about having them resoled? My local cobbler does school shoes and mum used to do mine as I was pigeon toed and they always wore out unevenly.

I only replace India's shoe's when she has outgrown them (3 times this year) and I normally buy Clarks.

I have had 2 pairs of Startrite and the quality has been awful! One pair (of £60 boots) the stitching came undone in under a week and the second pair of shoe,s the sole came away from the shoe and the embellishments came off in 2 weeks. John Lewis replaced them but I shan't be buying them again!
