Group 2/3 car seat recommendations please

Postby Rebeccar75 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 6:02 pm

Hi, I'm after a group 2/3 car seat (not Isofix). It needs to be fairly lightweight so that I can swap it between mine and my hubby's car. Also, not too expensive.

THere are so many out there on the market I just don't know where to start.
Any advice greatfully received.

Rebecca

It's in dutch but don't worry here are the most importent words:
veiligheid - safety
gebruik & ergonomie - ease of use & comfort
reiniging en afwerking - cleaning and finish
schadelijke stoffen - harmful substances
++ = very good
+ = good
o = reasonable
o- = just adequate
- = bad
I have a Cybex solution x2-fix and my DD likes it very much :wink:

Hi, thanks for that, and what a bonus to get a little Dutch lesson thrown in too!! How great to have a list like that, I wonder if there is a similar on in the UK...?

We have a Maxi Cosi Rodi and one of the Concord one's for our 2 boys. I love them both and got the both in the sale at Halfords last year.

Personally I would avoid the really cheap, really light one's due to child safety because you do get what you pay for when it comes to car seats.

The Rodi have good reviews and IMO are reasonably priced for a good car seat. HTH :D

I have been looking at the Rodi actually as it has good reviews. It is sadly quite pricey but if I could also get one in a sale that'd be great. However I suppose if they are going to be in it for a long time it does help to justify the price.

I had been looking at some Graco ones as they were half price on Kiddicare but apparently they are rubbish and have no side impact protections so glad I didn't rush into buying one of those...!!

Thank you

Yes they will be in it for longer so not so bad. The Rodi average about £75 in some shops. Might be worth visiting Halfords or similar, ours were in the sale because the covers were dusty from being on display (not damaged though) so I just had to wash the covers!

Hope you find bargain soon x
