Anyone familiar with HSP?

Postby MissFrodo » Tue Oct 27, 2015 6:42 pm

Emi is diagnosed HSP, not surprised tbh just something we have known for years but well now it's 'official'.
She's getting ergotheraphy since a few weeks as it seems to be helpfull.
Anyone else having experience with HSP?

I'm not sure we have such a 'diagnoses' as such here. Although certainly familiar traits. I'd be interested to hear about ergotherapy.

Agree with Emily, don't think it is something diagnosed in Oz either and I doubt it here too!

What does ergotherapy involve?

But the term is known overthere? Funny as most books we read about this are english :giggle:

Ergotheraphy is used to learn her how to deal with all the input, trying to give her instruments to switch it off when it's too much or on when she's in a faraway mood ;)
Hard to explain as it's a bit unclear for me as well but her head is always busy and everything she hears sees etc (and yes she sees/hears/smells/etc everything) seems even important to her so she has to learn how to deal with that.

Wow that sounds pretty full on for her  I'm so glad that they do have something that they can help her with. I'll probably hear about it now that you've said that!

Here we would call it spd (sensory processing disorder) or Sid (sensory integration dysfunction) Sam has auditory processing issues and other sensory issues.

Yes, this sounds similar, and ergotherapy sounds similar to some CBT courses.

Is she finding it helpful?
