After/Out of School Clubs

Postby jules070603 » Thu Sep 09, 2010 12:00 pm

I've got Zach booked onto his first after school class today.

Its Dodgeball :D He is a little unsure about staying on his own but I am sure he will be fine as I've discovered its the same coaches who take PE in school and he had PE today. I am going to go and pick him up then take him to the class, not sure what me and Imogen will then do for an hour as there isn't much point going back home  Might go to the garden centre close by.

I really wanted to get him some interest out of school and thought this sounded fun. I've also contacted a swimming school for lessons.

He can be a little shy when he first tries something although school has really helped him in this respect, I'm hoping that he'll enjoy this class and can maybe try something else next term.

Do your little ones do any activities out of school? Have they done in the past?

Victoria did cricket club last term and absolutely loved it. She is older than Zach but has only just come to live in this country and is a very girly girl so I was surprised when she said she wanted to try it. She looked forwards to every Friday and was disappointed at the end of term as it meant no more cricket. We are now deciding what she would like to do this term but the options are not so great. I know others who have done Dodgeball and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I hope his class went well today.

Sam did football last year and then a course of football  then football on Saturday mornings - can you see a theme developing here :giggle:

He also did a general sports club, but it was only on for 6 weeks, all the week night football is finished now, so he's fancying a street dance class run at school, golf lessons and Beavers!

I do try to restrict him to a max of 2 things on week nights though, otherwise I think he gets too tired.

Jack started Karate when he was in Year 1, so at age 5 he did that for about 5 years in total.
Over the years he's also done a mixture of Cricket, Swimming, Beavers/Cubs, Pop School (Dancing, Mixing, MC'ing, Breakdancing) & football, as well as Holiday Fun Clubs at our local Sports Centre - all these were not run by school and then at school but after school, Art Club, Origami, Sports Club, Football and Cooking.

They've all helped his confidence & also an added bonus when he started Secondary School he knew quite a few children not from his Junior School which made the change a bit easier.

They have both done various things, Anna still dances and she did go to Rainbows, she will be starting Cubs in Jan after here birthday, there is a long waiting list but she is being sneaked in
Kieran goes to Cubs and before that Beavers, now for 8 weeks he is having gold lessons, letter came in from the school, £20, total bargain, he is also doing cycling provicancy (sp) just now, but that is only done at this age not earlier x

Wow, some great clubs. :D

Zach really enjoyed Dodgeball, I'm so glad as I he does love to run around and any kind of sports he shows interest in so I think he needs something like this.

He really enjoys athletics but he seems to be too young for any of the clubs I've been able to find so maybe something for the future.

The older 2 really enjoy their after school activities but I don't think our school run them until year 2. I was laughing to myself last night as the groups they have chosen perfectly show their personalities. Sophie has signed up for choir, bible study and french, Ella is going to do hockey, netball and beat (drums) :giggle:

Sorry meant to say that it's good that Zach enjoyed his club, hoping to get Georgia into some sort of dancing and swimming.
