Oh my goodness! Poor naughty little boy!

DS has been really stroppy all night - three massive tantrums, then decided he was hungry after he'd been in bed for half an hour, and started moaning again.

He just started crying, so I got him to come downstairs - turns out he's in detention for a week

Apparently he wee'd on the wall in the toilets at school - and because they were messing around when he did it, his teacher (who is fab btw and I can understand why he thought this) thought he'd done it on purpose - hence the severity of the punishment.

I'm and all at the same time - he's never been in trouble before - so he's really upset.

I think I might tell the teacher how upset he is, though I'm happy for the punishment to stand, as he does get carried away when he's with the boys, and maybe a bit of a shock won't do him any harm.

Poor baby He's in my bed as DH is away - and he really wanted to sleep with me - fine til DD wakes up and thinks she might like to come in too

He's the same age as my Ross and he can be a complete nightmare just now. I'm sure I've read things about testosterone surges around this age and it's driving me up the wall Although to be fair he's just come out all over in eczema and he's not sleeping well at night, so he's grumpy and crabby through the day.

Your poor little guy though, I have to say I think a whole week's detention is a very severe punishment for a six year old. I'd imagine at our school they would get a lecture from the Head, a letter of apology to write, and maybe a note home to mum and dad. An ongoing punishment is a lot for a little one to cope with I think

would have been more appropiate to make him clean it up - punishment should fit the 'crime'
a weeks detention is a bit much for one incident esp at that age

Well I spoke to the teacher today, as he was still really upset this morning, and he said he had detention at both breaks and lunch for a whole week - which I thought was a bit steep. And his teacher is really good, so I thought he'd either got it wrong, or there was more to it!

The teacher said he was trying to see how high he could wee up the wall I can believe that So he said he'd just said to him that he was really disapointed - which probably was the killer blow, as he thinks his teacher is great!

And he's only got detention today, not for a week. Which will be a nice surprise for him when he realises

Not sure if he had to clear it up - didn't want to get too involved, but I reckon 1 days detention is probably fair. He makes them sit and do nothing - contemplate their crime. DS is quite a mature 6 year old, so he is feeling it for all the right reasons!

I'd say that was reasonable too.

He hates if he knows he has disappointed someone he respects like that. Your boy and mine sound very similar.

Yeah Kieran gets upset with the disappointment thing as well but I do think older kids need to realise that their actions can be disappointing.
Kieran got introuble for a wee incident as well, turns out some one pushed him when he was weeing and it went on the floor, some one cliped and said he was doing it on purpose, me and DH got hauled into the school
