School attendance - How many days off is counted as alot?

my sister little girl is really i'll and endes up being off foe six months at a time and she gets special consideration as the consultants she is under wants her to do part time school as she gget more ill when she at school full time as when sh there part time and she also in hospital alot. so i think it depeands on the school as well

you can't really help it if they are too ill for school. I wouldn't stress too much. When I was 4 I had months off at a time, first with whooping cough and the second I had grommets in, it didn't affect my school work. I soon caught up.

It does look like its down to the school. I rang again this morning and they told me not to worry about it. She still has a high temperature and really isnt well enough to be in school. Its just unlucky that she seems to have caught things close together.

At least she was in school when the snow was bad and alot of kids at her school didnt bother. Hopefully she wont be off again with illness! I worked out her attendance will be 94% providing she isnt ill again so I personally dont think thats a bad attendance mark.

I wouldnt worry, especially for a 4 year old. Schools dont launch straight in with a welfare officer visit, they are more likely to be concerned if it she was absent every friday for example. When you think about it two lots of five days is still only 2 lots of sickness, which especially if you are supposed to wait 2 days after sickness isnt long.

The school also know if bugs are going around. I was called to collect my 5y ds this afternoon and they mentioned a lot of bugs going around.

And kids are usually sick more often in winter so % will usually be lower
