Bedtime trouble

Postby twinkletot » Fri May 20, 2011 6:59 pm

Ds has always been fab at bedtime. He has a routine and settles himself in bed and drops off on his own. It's lovely and calm.

Over the last two weeks he immediately gets up and runs around. Messing about and not staying in bed. He thinks it's hilarious and has great fun in the fact we have to plonk him back in bed.

Tonight he's been going fo rover an hour, which is the longest it's been. I'm not giving in and putting him back straight away now as he likes the attention even if we don't speak to him. Atm he is looking out of his window wide awake because he's pulled both his blackout blinds off to look out :x

Is this just a phase he will grow out of or does anyone know how to get him back into the habit of drifting off without all this drama?

Honestly I would just keep putting him back, but without any words or talking. No eye contact etc. We have some of these phases too but fortunately she doesn't get out of bed, just shenanigans with teddies on top of the covers, sitting up etc.

Im sure its a phase.
Just keeping putting them back to bed.
DS occasionally goes through a phase of waking in night & wanting to get in bed with us - but we ride it out for a few days to a wk (at times) and eventually he settles and goes back to sleeping through.
Just don't say anything to engage him and he'll soon realise he's getting no attention and start to sleep more.
