Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with a Montessori nursery/school?
I went to visit one last week and just interested to hear others experience's and thoughts.

I haven't had personal experience yet but when I was looking for Tyler's preschool for next Jan I looked at about 15 nurseries/preschools which were a mix of normal/Montessori ones. I preferred the feel of the Montessori ones and Tyler was much more settled and happy in them. I did have him enrolled in a Montessori school which had applied to become a free school from next year but it has recently closed :( so he is on the waiting list for a place at another Montessori pre school.

Sammie (123princessammie) used to work at one and she gave me quite a lot of info when I previously asked about them so it might be worth asking her, or here is my thread from before viewtopic.php?f=15&t=70070&hilit=montessori

I've been to see a few and would love to send Bella to one when she goes to school - I think she'd thrive in that kind of environment - but we can't afford the fees. None of the ones around here are funded by the LEA :(

Elliott goes to our local Montessori 2 times a week and he loves it. The staff there are brilliant and the child always comes first. I know this can be the same at other pre-schools but the one that my other 2 went to wasn't always like this

I've been in a bit of a dilemma lately whether to leave him here or take up the September nursery place at the school he's been offered. I've decided to send him to the school but unfortunately this is for selfish reasons as with the baby coming just as the kids are going back to school it will be easier to drop them off all at once and it will save me money  (being on mat leave will mean things are a bit tight) as you have to still pay a bit more even though they're funded from 3 as they have more than 2½ hours.

Sorry for the waffle but I just wanted to say that I'd give Montessori a  from our experience and #4 will be going there too hopefully :wine:

Aoife goes to one and Imogen starts next week! I must admit though I had no idea it was before I signed the contract

Aoife adores it has come on leaps and bounds, her speech improved almost over night .. She is now a totally independent little girl who want's to do everything herself and she can :giggle:

I could have sent Imogen to the feeder nursery for the school Weef starts in sept but decided to go with the montessori as it's a wonderful place, the staff are so very nice and always give us a breakdown of how Aoife has done in the day, They always have the time to talk about everything ... I've no experience of a different nursery though.
Zarah will be going once she is old enough :wine:

Even though Aoife has funded hours we do still have to pay quite a bit each term but to me it's money well spent

Heya, i worked at a montessori nursery for nearly 5years, a fab environment where children thrive, mainly because they are givien the time and patience to do things for themselves, ask away with questions, will come back later with more as have a hungry alesha atm :giggle:

No experience, but I wish we could send the boys to my old primary school. The teaching staff are all Montessori based, although it's not technically a Montessori school and is a state school. And then I look at the house prices in the village *sigh*

I translated a book by Maria Montessori and thought her methods were fascinating. I wish we had a Montessori school near us, but unfortunately there's nothing local enough. I would love to have the opportunity to send the boys to one!

No experience but given our recent outcomes with K I wish we had sent him to a school like that, I did enquire about Steiner schools but our nearest is Glasgow and it would be a nightmare to get over there of a morning

Just had a look and none near us, there is one in the village my sister lives in though x
