School & Anti b's

Postby weefywoo » Wed Nov 23, 2011 8:02 pm

Aoife should be well enough to go into school tomorrow but she still has about 2 days worth of antibiotics to take has anyone been in this situation? Will schools give antibiotics if I take it in or will I need to go up there during the day to give them :-?

Im of course gong to ask the teacher in the morning but if it will be a no I'd rather leave them in the fridge than carry them on the hour journey

School should be able to give the antibiotics. We have a form that has to be filled in by the parent that details the medication and when it has to be given/how much etc. then the first aider will give the medicine when required. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

All schools vary, may be worth a try on their website to see if they publish that policy, or a ring in the morning. Some won't due to safe stoarge issues.

Our school won't give any meds so when A needed them a while ago I had to go in at lunchtime and give them to her.

You should be able to fill in a form giving permission as they are prescribed by a doctor.

James' nursery will give antibiotics or any other medicine as long as the 1st 2 doses have been given by the parents at home and its prescribed.
They will keep it in the fridge if needed.
