They'll have a lot of emails from here if that's the case! They can't ignore us all x

I have a feeling this may have been a problem with older LL's, ie bought a few years ago, but is now fixed. The reason being I bought some nappies on a clearance deal from them last year, and seem to remember it mentioning that the elastic might not be as good on them hence why they were on sale.

I have just bought some of the newer nappies on their latest offer, the labels on the ones I bought last year are different again so obviously older again. They have the black cartoon drawing of the little sheep, on the latest ones I got it is the green lamb on the label. I haven't used any of the nappies yet as still waiting for baby to arrive, but I noticed a difference in the elastic of both nappies - on the ones I just bought it seems much firmer than the older ones. So I think it depends on exactly how old the nappies are - the ones they currently have on offer seem to me to not be the same as the ones they must have been selling a couple of years ago.

lazylexis wrote:The elastic has gone on my cotton and microfibre ones that have been vacuum packed for 3 yrs but seems alright on the bamboo ones. I am debating whether it is worth getting the elastic on the cotton ones replaced by Amber (nappynurse on fb) or just to ditch them.

@lazylexis

I have 4 cotton size 1 that I bought second hand here when I was pregnant. Got Amber to change the elastic on them & they are fab. I figure they'll be great for a little while if the baby isn't too heavy a wetter & it seems a shame to throw them out. Amber isn't doing repairs at the moment though & that's why I didn't suggest her.

That's a great link Nichola. Thanks for posting. Might give it a try if I'm feeling brave enough.

I think you are right about it being the older nappies Vanilla. The bamboo size 1 I have are only 2 years old though with only 7 months of use. I think the elastic should last longer than that. The size 2 I have are the free ones they were giving away about a year & a half ago. They were not used by the ladies I bought them off (I couldn't get free nappy in Ireland) & they were used a maximum of 3 times each by me because the elastic disintegrated straight away. I think they knew the nappies had dodgy elastic & that's why they gave them away.

I would agree with you monsterm. My size 1 are older (the small black lamb label) but my size 2s are more recent. I got the feeling they knew full well that there was an issue with the elastic when I contacted them.

Thanks for that link Nichola. Will give that a go a have a sewing machine. Have nothing else to do in the evenings with three under three obviously!! I have a lot of nappies though so could be a while. They are fab nappy especially for newborns so don't want to bin them. Suppose I could sell them on but not sure anyone could be bothered with fixing them either.

This might be a silly question, but can't you still use them even if the elastic is knackered anyway? I mean not all nappies are elasticated around the legs & back, eg terries, prefolds & those that are something between a shaped & a flat nappy, so would they work with a good gusseted wrap designed for those kind of nappies even if the elastic is gone?

I totally agree the elastic should last longer than a few months use though!

Me back again. Have been thinking about what you said about not replacing the elastic on the little lambs and just using them with the wraps and they work brilliantly. Actually very comfy for babbie as there isn't two sets of elastic on their little leggies.

Dilemma now that we are finished with them (for this baby) do I replace the elastic and try to sell them on or just try to sell them on as they are? Anyone any thoughts? They are in great condition as get very little wear (babbies are all over 10lbs at birth) and seems such a pity to let them go to waste. With the recent selling spree ll were offereing I doubt there is much of a market. Anyone know what the deal they were doing was?

Many thanks again. I always apprecite the input from knowledgable mamas!

I have the same problrm, the elastic on a bamboo back, wrap back and mf legs. Annoyed as they were used obbly for a short time with Pea as she was in pockets ft st the childminders. Grr was wondering whether I should complain or not.
