EcoBumbles stuffed with Flip Organic inserts?

Postby babyraccoon » Sat May 19, 2012 6:15 pm

Hi all,
I'm not getting on great with my Flip Organic inserts, I get a lot of poo leakage and I never feel like i'm getting a good fit under the wrap. Sadly, they comprise most of my stash. I wish I had gotten all fitteds, as I have around 5 that I use for nights and I love them.

I'm wondering if I can avoid too much more cost by getting EcoBumbles and stuffing them with my Flip Organic inserts?? Or will things be too bulky?

Is the poo leaking off the prefold and onto the wrap or out of the wrap altogether? Are you pad folding the insert or using a nappy nippa? How old is your LO? Have you tried adjusting the poppers at the front to see if that helps the fit?

I've had Flips as part of my stash with both of my girls and found that with :bf: poo, it almost always got on to the wrap - that's just the nature of :bf: poo unfortunately, it gets everywhere! I found that gusseted wraps (like Thirsties Duos or Weehuggers) were much better than Flip wraps at poo containment until they started solids. If you're just having poo rather than wee leaks, then it might be worth persevering with the Flips for a bit.

I haven't tried EcoBumbles but I don't see any particular reason why it wouldn't work. They might be a little bulky but the EcoBumbles look quite thin so it wouldn't be too bad, I shouldn't think. I sometimes use Flip inserts to stuff my pockets and that works fine.

I'm getting poo onto the covers, thankfully not out onto his clothing. In theory this is fine, but my little guy poos several times a day so it gets really annoying switching covers so often! I do use gusseted wraps which I agree seem to work well with the Flips.

I'm thinking that I might get some EcoBumbles and give it a go - if they're too bulky for daytime I could use the EcoBumble/Flip combo for night, they're so absorbent they'd probably do well. Then I'd at least free up my fitteds for daytime use.

Have you tried fanning the prefold out at the back to catch more poo? I also found that :bf: poo stuck to fleece liners a bit so were were less likely to get leaks when we used those.

But your plan of giving EcoBumbles a go sounds good - at least they're quite inexpensive and hopefully they'll work well for you!
