motherease sandys versus onesize?

Postby angiepangie2809 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 5:48 pm

hi ladies.
I currently use a bit of a mixture of different nappies on ethan as i feel variety is the spice of life and all that!
but my main staple nappy is the motherease sandy. i love them, love the fit, have had no leaks at all. my problem is i now need to start to try to stock up on larger size nappies for him as hes only 4 month old but already over 15lb and i am realy struggling to find any decent used large sandys for a decent price as i want quite a lot (at least 15 i would say) so i was wondering about the motherease onsize instead. i havnt used them at all but there seems to be loads going pretty cheap all the time on this and other nappy forums that sell used nappies. Can you ladies adviseme?...are they just popper fastening? like the sandys (i dont like applix you see) and how would you compare them, fit wise and absorbancy wise to the sandys? i already have some boosters but will look into getting some more at some point as i know you can used the boosters if you have a heavy wetter as they get older. Can anyone advise me at all?
thanks

Hi,
Yes Motherease One-size (MEOS) are also popper fastening. However they popper to the front rather than the side like Sandys. The good thing I find with Sandys is that you can adjust the waist and thigh separately, especially as I have a baby with HUGE thighs. :giggle: :giggle: With the MEOS you can't really and if I do them up to fit his thighs then they gape on the waist.

Sandys also have a frilled leg and waist which is excellent for Poo containment when babies are still having explosions. This becomes less often after weaning. The MEOS have a bound edge which sits more neatly IMO.

MEOS last for ages. I have some which are now onto their third baby. I have used them folded down from about 4 months and I can still squeeze my almost four year old in one for night time ( he doesn't wet much now).

You can get a popper in booster to use in the MEOS, which poppers into the front when you aren't folding it down anymore. I often put another hemp booster under the popper in booster too if I need.

Absorbancy wise I think the MEOS are probably a bit more absorbent than a small Sandys (mainly because they are a bit bigger so there is more material) and about the same a large Sandys. If you can get hold of any of the bamboo ones they are even more absorbent and so soft, although they take longer to dry.

They also dye really well ( I have rainbow ones now) so if you manage to get some cheaply that look a bit tired, its easy to brighten them up.

HTH.

thanks hun. your input has been realy helpful. (I had already thought of dying them if i get some that are cheaper because they are stained ect. ethan is 4 months old now but over 15lbs already. we are planning another baby after ethan turns one so whtever i buy, if i get on with i will keep for baby number 3.

thanks again x

I have both Sandys and MEOS.

I love the sandys fit on my skinny DD, I'm just starting to get large ones as she's about 18lb and starting to grow out of them - picking up the odd pre loved one here and there.

The MEOS are good for nights - I get a few more boosters in, and they are cheaper and easier to get hold of, so are a good fill in. - I specially like the stay dry and the bamboo ones.

Need to try dying my sandy's as DH left a blue towel in the washer the other day (grrr!) so now half my lovely nappies are grey!

I'd get both

We use Sandy's - lo is over 13mths and we're still using size 1. She's a super soaker, so we just use an easy peasy hemp (fits in the nappy prefectly!) and I bought the large ME bamboo liners that we put on top. They work v well for us! We'll be using them on bump also, I also love the fact u can adjust the legs and waist seperately.
HTH!
