Can someone explain something to me? Pretty fitteds? Now don't get me wrong, I love pretty nappies, BUT i'm not sure I get the reasoning for spending loads of a nappy and then having to cover it up?
It's not something that can be explained it will all make sense one day!
Though to be fair, do you take Imogen out in just a nappy ever, I very much doubt it, you can use fitteds without covers at home through the day, probably more when they are moving though!
Also as my mum pointed out to me, she buys pretty knickers with no intention of anyone seeing them, surely that's the same!
I have never gone for the 'pretty fitted' thing either. I do have a couple of pretty fitteds but only because they work fantastically and are well priced for a good quality functional nappy.
I simply don't see the point in overspending for a handpainted, one off embroidered, very expensive fitted nappy that would only do the same job absorbancy & containment wise as one half the price without all the fancy bits...
I am a 'functional' nappy user at heart (who occassional strays )
when i first saw prety fitteds when i joined here i thought what a waste of money having a wonderful nappy to cover it up but i love them now i love how they look on the washign line in the nappy bag in pram bag and i do someties lie him on his playmat with a weenotions chagnign mat folded in half by his bum so i can see the print lol
TBH I never really had any pretty fitteds but I do get them, you see them when you change them, you see them when you wash them, you see them hanging all in a row on the line, and of course your neighbors see them hanging all in a row on the line
I suppose if you can find something that is not much more expensive and is a fab nappy then why not? As Hanna said you usually put something over pretty pockets etc anyway!
I buy pretty fitteds as fitteds are the only nappies that can cope with my heavy wetter; we don't use pockets/AIOs at all. I suppose I could use cheaper non-pretty nappies, but I'd have to boost them a lot and DD's bum is quite big enough, I think. Besides, I'd hate an entirely white nappy stash. I have to wash them, dry them, put all the bits together on them and do 90% of DD's nappy changes, so I want to look at something pretty.
I initially thought that too... but now I don't see the difference between a pretty fitted with wool trousers and a pretty pocket nappy or wrap with normal trousers... In the summer most pretty fitteds can be worn without a cover anyway, so you can use in the same way as a pocket to show off under a dress or with just a t-shirt.
As pp said, I don't just wear white cotton knickers, so why should my baby just have boring nappies.
From a practical point of view, it is also good to have different types for different situations and having different outers means that you can instantly see which is which...
I seem to remember I said that was well but things have changed I thought woolies were the most bizzare things I had eve seen as well but not any more. When we are at home Gracie is often in just a fitted nappy and when we were on holiday she would often go out at night in just a nappy and her gorgeous apron dress. x
ETA Hanna is right about the knicker thing I always wear matching bra and knickers that no one ever sees but I know they look nice and pretty, I even have to buy matching sets when I am preg
