Is my baby long?

Postby macmomo » Sun Feb 13, 2011 6:07 pm

6 week old daughter, parents both tall. Before I buy my fitteds, how do I measure her to get an idea? She is long for her weight if the growbags are a guide (at 9 lbs she is wearing the 14lb+ ones) but I think the length is in her legs. Where do you measure from on her body to see which nappy will fit best? Health visitors and midwives all says they dont measure until 3 months.

Many thanks for any advice.

You need to measure her rise. If you measure from her tummy button to roughly the same point on her back (so through her legs) that gives you the rise. Once you have that you can ask people what rise the nappies are.

Approximate rise = 25cm/9.75 inches. Baby weighs about 9lb 10, six weeks old. Is this long? I think I would prefer mainly fitteds as quicker to dry. thanks

Sorry, I have no idea if that is long for a baby so not much help. Both my boys were long - on the rise & the legs but it didn't really matter until they were older & wearing bigger nappies.

Fitteds don't necessarily dry faster though - drying time depends on what fabric they are made of. Bamboo is more absorbent but takes longer to dry. :D
