Btp or sized.

Postby Rebeccar75 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 8:17 pm

Hi, I am thinking of investing in some fitteds as having probs with pockets. I thought I'd go for btp as it would save money in the long run but after advice.... What fitted's have worked for you and were they sized or btps? My ds has quite a slim build.

Thanks

If I could have my time over again, I would get sized for the first stage (new born/small) and BTP from there on in.
The BTP nappies are HUGE on new borns and small babies, but work well & look a lot less bulky once they're ~4 months old - at least they did on Erin and she's never been a big baby.
And as you use them then essentially until they potty train, you get a lot more mileage out of them

ETA: my fitteds are BTP Little Comfort nappies and have coped well with explosive BM poop and heavy daytime wetting :D

BTP are generally fine from 4-5 months plus but are more bulky than sized. Totsbots stretch are BTP and fit quite well on smaller babies.

Just wondering what your problems with pockets are? If its leaks you may just need some better inserts maybe??

HI, thanks for the info. My son is nearly 5 months so might give a few btp a go. Having such an up/down time with pockets - sometimes their fine and others they just leak and leak around the thighs regardless of what insert I use and how tight they are. Also my hubby can't seem to do up a pocket...
Have had my eye on the tots bots stretchies. Are tots bots wraps the only wraps that go fit with them??

Thanks

nope any wrap will pretty much fit them, i've use flip, nature babies and little lamb wraps and they've all been fine.

With the pockets do you use poppered vests? if they're too tight they can cause leaks (i found this out the hard way) you can either buy vest extenders or use next size up. Too tight jeans can also cause the same problem.

 again

Sometimes you'll find that pockets will leak if you've over-stuffed them, or if the inserts aren't laying quite flat. Sometimes the type/size/shape of nappy can be the problem too, in that it's just not the right fit for your LO. And sometimes it can just be that you've got a power-wetter on your hands, in which case you will more than likely find fitteds a lot more reliable.
As for wraps, well, you'll probably find that a lot of the wraps designed for the BTP nappy ranges will fit. We've got a mix of Mother Ease, Little Comfort and WeeNotions wraps and they all work fine with the BTP nappies I've got.

Sized for the first few months and then BTP is what has worked best for my LO my fave wraps for over BTP are mother ease airflow but i'm a fan of the big bum look  not everyone likes the poofyness of them.
