Dr Seuss - where have you been all my life?!

Postby Mareth » Mon Nov 05, 2012 6:10 pm

Rhys got a couple of Dr Seuss books from my mam, and has since got another compilation book from the school library.

I'd never read any Dr Seuss as a kid, or up until we had Rhys, but OYG, they're fab! And even better, Rhys thinks so too :giggle: . he is utterly in love with The Lorax, he hasn't seen the film yet, so I'm waiting for it to come out in the kid's club at the cinema so we can go and see it.

When we were out at the weekend we got him another 4 books to add to his ever expanding collection.

How have I missed this my whole life? He's fab!!

Penny is a bit young for them yet but I can't wait for the time when she is ready. They were so meant to be read aloud! I love the :)

I know I'm in the minority here but, I can't stand them. To me, all the made up words are just lazy writing to make it rhyme. We were bought a set but neither DH nor I enjoy reading them to the kids at all!

You could put them on Classifieds? We love Dr Seuss too. I never had them as a child either.

My favourite books as a kid from the library were Beatrix Potter and then I upgraded to Dr Seuss and Tintin :D Have not read either since then, but will probably get them for oscar x

Would you eat them on a train? would you eat them in the rain?
Would you eat them with a goat? Would you eat them on a boat?
Would you eat them in a car? Would you , could you , here they are?
I will not eat them in a tree,
I will not eat them, let me be!
I will not eat them with a mouse
I will not eat them in a house
I will not eat them here or there
I would not eat them anywhere
I do not like green eggs and ham
I DO NOT LIKE THEM SAM I AM

That's one of the new ones we got Rhys at the weekend. It always reminds me of the film I am Sam

I never read Dr Seuss as a kid but I'm very tempted to get the set the Book People have http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/w ... Term=seuss

To those who have read them, does this set look any good?

That looks like a really good set. Of the ones in the set we have:

The Cat in the Hat
The Lorax
How The Grinch Stole Christmas! (don't have this, but will get it if I see it anywhere, it's in the compilation book Rhys had from the library)
Green Eggs and Ham
Horton Hears a Who!
Dr Seuss's A B C
Oh, The Places You'll Go!

And I'd recommend them all.
