Hi ladies

Just received 9 lovely GK pockets, and I really love them. Their inserts and boosters are very absorbant but slim fitting at the same time.

BUT... After the first wash, I realised that the pocket is too small/tight for the inserts to come out by them selves during washing. So I have to pull them about before washing. Do you have the same problem? I find that very annoying to be honest, as I'd rather not touch the soiled nappies too much, and I really like everything else about the nappy.

Any advise or comments are more than welcome. Would really like them to work

Thanks

I always take my inserts out before washing as I think they get cleaner.

Yeah it's a bit gross to be handling wet, dirty nappies, but it's just how I get them in the machine. You could certainly wear rubber gloves while doing so, and give them a good wash afterwards. Or you could take the inserts out of the nappy as you change your LO, and use a mesh bag/laundry bag in your nappy bucket to minimize handling of them.

I would always take an insert out of a pocket nappy before washing.

I think you find a knack of doing it in a way that you don't have to get yourself covered in poo etc....or maybe you just get used to handling stuff like that better the more you do it

^ This. It's one of the gross things that you unfortunately get used to!

So you do this with all your pockets then?

Its not that Im really fussy about getting dirty or anything (am used to cleaning pooh of nappies all the time :waiting: ), but I don't actually pull out the inserts of any of my nappies. Just dont think I've found the right trick to doing it without stretching the nappy when pulling, so when the insert pops out, the nappy springs like a boomerang (if that makes any sense)... And by then you can have pooh leftover all over you or the rest of the bathroom :puke:
I have one hand on the inserts (of course) and one hand on the top of the nappy (opposide end of the pocket) and then just pull.

How do you hold the nappy to avoid that? Might be a stupid question - how many ways are there really :giggle: But maybe you can teach me a trick anyway...

Yep, I do it with all my pockets. If you can't get the inserts out without getting covered in poo then I just stretch it over the loo until most comes off and then try. When they have been really bad I have just dipped the complete nappy into the loo until most is off then do this :puke: while sorting it out
