we are a 'whatever' household here too, lots of home made ones and bought ones too. Coloured lights on the tree and white lights on the fireplace :D

I USE to have purple, bronze and gold till dh moved in, he has absolutely no idea how to coordinate, I've given in now with the random uncoordinating 'stuff' he brings home. I let him have his own way as the way I see it Christmas is for kids and he is the biggest one of all :hohoho:

always red and white!

I love the Scandinavian look - so fresh and festive at the same time.

DH used to be a 'chuck anything you've got on the tree' guy but now he loves the white & red combo. Some bits do have natural wood or a tiny bit of gold or green.

I won't have baubles as I always have young kids who seem to think they're balls - they chuck them and they smash into tiny sharp bits.

This year though, DS aged 6 decided to put some fuzzy yarn on the tree too! :hohoho: It's pink but it kind of works and he loves it so much that I've left it.

eviesmummy wrote:Very traditional Reds and Golds mainly - boring and I wanted to change it all this year to fushias, turquoise, purples and silver but when I went to buy I was  at how much it was going to cost to replace everything and didn't bother :giggle:

:hohoho: Good decision. I replaced all ours last year with those colours but have gone off them now

Red and silver baubles here - but not overly fussy. A different colour etc will stand out as something special

When it was just me, it was gold decs, white lights. But I love that we now have a family tree with a mishmash of styles and colours, all with stories behind them. Coloured lights now too, but no flashing! Oh, and no tinsel!
